Making the dentist a place kids feel comfortable.
Kids Dental
Gentle, friendly care from the start
Positive dental experiences during childhood help children feel confident about caring for their teeth as they grow. We provide gentle children's dental care in a friendly, welcoming environment — explaining things clearly and helping your child become familiar with the chair, equipment and surroundings.
Children should have their first dental visit when their first tooth appears, or by their first birthday — whichever comes first. Early visits let the dentist check how the teeth and jaws are developing, identify concerns and give parents advice about brushing, diet and preventing tooth decay.
Whether your child is visiting for the first time, due for a check-up and clean, or has a toothache, our team works to make the appointment calm, comfortable and positive.

Our Services
Children's dental services
Our kids' dental services support healthy teeth through every stage of childhood. Depending on your child's age and needs, their appointment may include:
- A gentle exam of teeth, gums, bite & jaw development
- Professional teeth cleaning and fluoride treatment
- Dental X-rays when clinically necessary
- Tooth-coloured fillings and decay treatment
- Fissure sealants to protect vulnerable back teeth
- Advice on brushing, flossing, diet, dummies & thumb-sucking
- Custom-fitted mouthguards for school & community sport
- Monitoring of adult teeth, crowding & orthodontic concerns
- Emergency care for toothaches, broken teeth & injuries
Fissure sealants protect the deep grooves of back teeth where food and bacteria are hard to brush away, and fluoride treatment adds extra protection against decay. We explain any findings clearly and discuss options with parents or carers before proceeding.

What To Expect
At your child's appointment
A friendly welcome
For a young or first-time visitor, the appointment is mainly about building trust. We may introduce the chair, count their teeth, show them the little dental mirror and explain what we're doing in simple words — never rushing, and keeping parents involved throughout.
A gentle check & clean
The dentist examines your child's teeth, gums, bite and developing smile, looking for early decay, enamel problems, gum inflammation and how the adult teeth are emerging. Where appropriate, we gently clean the teeth and apply fluoride to strengthen enamel.
A personalised prevention plan
We show you and your child how to clean their teeth effectively and cover toothbrush choice, fluoride toothpaste, flossing, healthy snacks, sugary drinks and habits like thumb-sucking. We also monitor jaw growth and spacing, and flag the right time for an orthodontic assessment when needed.
For Nervous Kids
Helping children feel calm at the dentist
Before the appointment, use positive, simple language — tell your child the dentist will count and clean their teeth, rather than mentioning needles, pain or previous frightening experiences. Bringing children for preventive visits, instead of waiting until something hurts, makes dental care feel more familiar.
Our team uses patience, encouragement and clear explanations to help nervous children feel safe. Let us know when booking if your child has additional needs, dental anxiety or a previous difficult experience, so we can plan their visit appropriately.
FAQs
Frequently asked questions
When should my child first visit the dentist?
From around age two — and definitely before the adult teeth start arriving around age six. Early visits are short, friendly and build confidence.
How should I explain the dentist to my child?
Keep it positive and matter-of-fact — a fun visit where someone counts their teeth. Avoid words like 'hurt' or 'needle', even reassuringly; kids hear the scary part.
Should I stay with my child during treatment?
For under-sixes, yes — your presence is reassuring. Older kids often do better on their own, and we'll guide you on what works.
Can a dummy damage my child's teeth?
There's no strong evidence of long-term harm if it's phased out before the adult teeth come through, though prolonged use may affect speech development.
